Statement of Interdisciplinary Understanding

Statement of Interdisciplinary Understanding

Before I was an Interdisciplinary Study major, I was so torn as to what I wanted to study. I had many different interests in many different fields, and nothing I “decided” on majoring in felt right. Eventually, I got so exhausted of jumping around from major to major, that I decided to see if UCF had a General Studies major. Through this research, I stumbled upon Interdisciplinary Studies. At first, I thought that Interdisciplinary Studies was like a “General Studies” major, but after looking at their website and visiting with a advisor, I learned what Interdisciplinary Studies really was. I was extremely fortunate to stumble across Interdisciplinary Studies, because I had no idea it even existed! It ended up being the absolute perfect major for me. It allowed me to follow my passions in both communications and art. I was able to integrate my skills, knowledge, and previous education into a major and eventually a career path that I loved. While majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies, I was able to take even more courses in the areas I was interested in. This helped me expand my knowledge and develop a career plan. During Cornerstone, I began building my professional, online portfolio that I would be able to use to showcase and promote my work to different businesses and creative agencies. This semester, during Capstone, I was able to complete my portfolio and really expand upon what I learned, as well as showcase what I learned. After graduation, I will be proud and excited to showcase my education, work, and experience in my future profession!
